Like a Haunted Trail: Erotic Tales of the Weird Wild West

Deadline: March 15, 2014.

We’re looking for tales which embody the near-mythic status of the Wild West, infused with supernatural or speculative elements, containing explicit erotic, sensual, or sexual encounters. Anything goes, from vampire cowboys to werewolf lawmen, from sorceress schoolmarms to Fae bartenders to ghost herds in the sky. Alternate history, steampunk, even science fiction. The Weird Wild West is more than a time or a place, it’s a mood, a feeling, an atmosphere. Give the larger-than-life heroes and villains a chance to shine, and to have their sexy fun times.

All sexualities and gender expressions are welcomed. Kink is welcome too. All characters must be consenting and of legal age. We enjoy sexy, character-driven stories that celebrate the erotic. Characters of color are definitely encouraged for this anthology. The Weird Wild West provides endless opportunities for characters of all origins to make their mark.

This ebook anthology is being edited by Michael M. Jones for Circlet Press. LIKE A BREATH OF FLAME: Dragon Erotica. Great serpents and winged lizards appear in nearly every mythology on Earth — in South America we have gentle Quetzalcoatl the winged serpent, in Egypt we have Apep the god of Chaos, in Mesopotamia we have Tiamat the mother of monsters, in Greece we have Scylla and the Hydra, in Aboriginal Australia there is the Rainbow Serpent… the list goes on, ending, of course, with our old friends, the European dragons of majesty and flame and the East Asian dragons of luck and rain. In modern fantasy, we have dragon riders and dragon-kin, half-dragons and luck dragons, dragons who walk in the shape of men. But what of the sexual side of the dragon? What of sensuality at the border between earth and sky, what of courtship rituals that shake the earth, and what of the dragon’s interactions with man (after all, it is said that the Emperor of China is the descendant of dragons…), what of dragons who take on human shape to learn of mankind’s ways? With humans and dragons existing side by side since the dawn of time, at what points did their desires cross? And even in the modern day, can you find someone with fire in their blood and jewels in their eyes? For Like a Breath of Flame, we’re looking for erotic tales of dragons and their kin from every culture, mythology, and time period.

All sexualities and gender expressions are welcomed.

Title: What Happens in the Tavern Stays in the Tavern

The word “fantasy” evokes many different responses in people, but the most common is the idea of the epic fantasy quest. Tolkein stands as the progenitor of this subset of fantasy novels, and since his time many highly regarded authors have taken up the challenge and have provided readers with elaborate, fantastic worlds filled with perilous journeys and creatures to excite our imaginations. But haven’t you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes, during the downtime the authors gloss over? Studies show that people under stress and threat have more sex, not less. For this anthology, we want writers to tackle the pauses and interstices in a fantasy quest. What kinds of steamy adventures happen behind the scenes, when our heroes and heroines are trekking along their journey? Give us the peek behind the curtains we’ve all been waiting for.

Guidelines: Original characters and universes only, please. Writers and characters may be of any gender or orientation.

Length: Minimum length approximately 2500 words. For this anthology, we will consider stories up to 20,000 words in order to ensure that authors have sufficient room to stretch their epic fantasy legs a little, providing setting, character development, and reasonably detailed (and sexy!) sex scenes.

Circlet Press is looking for erotic coming-of-age stories about animal shapeshifters for the new ebook anthology, Like a Moonrise, edited by Artemis Savory and Cecilia Tan. All animals have instincts, but what happens when those instincts emerge in someone who is already settled in human life? Whether your character is just reaching adulthood (18+ characters only please) or whether their shapeshifting gives them a whole new adolescence, explore the struggle with urges and maturity. Most animals have a tender side, but sometimes they’re driven too far. What becomes suddenly irresistible, or despised? How does the particular shape affect their human lives? Are things different for werewolves versus were-tigers, for shifters who have phases versus those who can change at will? We’re looking for stories that focus on a human’s new identity as he/she becomes a shapeshifter, the everyday temptations and restraints, and especially the breaking point. Circlet Press welcomes sex-positive stories of all sexualities and preferences.
