What's interesting is that I thought I was being way too obvious about what is going on in the story. But none of the commenters seem to have quite got it.

Or perhaps it's that merely thinking of it as an AU leads to a happier ending/interpretation? I'm fine with that. Once stories go out into the world, as far as I'm concerned, they need to stand alone – and authorial intent can be interesting and a nice addition to one's understanding of the story, but it does not replace any reader's personal experience (nor any scholar or critic's interpretation of the work). The author gets to say what they want in the story itself... the interpretations are not in the author's control. (A lesson J. K. Rowling may not have yet learned...)

So please enjoy the story however you like. But if you are curious about what I intended... the most obvious clue I can point you at is that it's not *really* an AU. There is a canon interpretation of what is going on.

So here's the fic I wrote for the Snaco meetup at Terminus. I felt like since I had made a mini-book for the H/D meetup, and I had made one for the Snarry meetup, I really had a moral imperative to do one for my own meetup and my #1 ship! Eeeeeek! The problem was... I didn't have ANY short Snaco stories! (Except drabbles.)

So my challenge to myself here was to write a Snaco (a smutty, GOOD Snaco, that is) that could fit in a minibook, meaning around 1500 words. I ended up making it 1800 and leaving my bio out of the book to make it fit. :-) Anyway, here it is:

So, tonight, I did something I've been meaning to do forever, which is to friend everyone who commented on all the fics of mine that have been up at various fests all around LJ this year. While doing that I discovered that I never had replied to comments on "A Wizard's Memory," the H/D I wrote for

charlotteschaos for

hd_holidays last Christmas.

Which got me to wondering, did I ever even cross-post the story here? The reveal took place on February 18th, when I was heavy into the modding of the first round of

hp_tarot, started posting the f-locked early version of the multi-chapter threesome fic "Between Boy and Man," and also my RPG was quite busy then, too. Oh yeah, and real life deadlines.

I just looked through my archive and a quick look does not show it. So, here, eight months late, is a cross-post of my H/D story. This is far less dark than a lot of what I write, but pretty involved characters (of course), and sex (of course)...

The pose was calculated, just like the length of his hair, just long enough to look like he didn't care about it, as if he'd let it go too long, when really, he spelled it that exact length, just the right length to brush the tops of his shoulders as he turned his head.

Harry unclenched his fists and turned away just as Draco's sharp chin swiveled toward him.

So, I was going through my master list recently, trying to make sure that all the links still work and such. Some of the comms have been deleted, or have gone to all f-lock, stuff like that. So I was checking everything out.

While I was doing it, I started making note of how many comments each story has received to see if I need to revamp my 'greatest hits' links (I don't), I noticed that the only one of my stories that has gotten as few as 25 comments is "Thrown to the Wolves."

It's not that surprising. The two main pairings are Snape/Draco and Lupin/Draco, neither of which are large ships, and the fest I wrote it for, HP Springsmut, was not a widely read as the holiday fests seem to be.

Also, it's got Warnings for things like "Heavy dub-con" and "Anal bleeding." But come on guys, it's me here, you know I'm going to make it good...! (*laughs evilly*)

Anyway, I figured the poor story might get more love if I posted about it here. It's got bitter!snape, scarred!lupin, and victimized!draco.
