Like a Haunted Trail: Erotic Tales of the Weird Wild West

We’re looking for tales which embody the near-mythic status of the Wild West, infused with supernatural or speculative elements, containing explicit erotic, sensual, or sexual encounters. Anything goes, from vampire cowboys to werewolf lawmen, from sorceress schoolmarms to Fae bartenders to ghost herds in the sky. Alternate history, steampunk, even science fiction. The Weird Wild West is more than a time or a place, it’s a mood, a feeling, an atmosphere. Give the larger-than-life heroes and villains a chance to shine, and to have their sexy fun times.

All sexualities and gender expressions are welcomed. Kink is welcome too. All characters must be consenting and of legal age. We enjoy sexy, character-driven stories that celebrate the erotic. Characters of color are definitely encouraged for this anthology. The Weird Wild West provides endless opportunities for characters of all origins to make their mark.

This ebook anthology is being edited by Michael M. Jones for Circlet Press. Michael has edited anthologies for Circlet previously, including Scheherazade’s Facade and Like A Cunning Plan, and his short stories appear in many, many anthologies including Masked Pleasures, Like a Queen, Girl Fever, and Fantastic Erotica: The Best of Circlet Press.

The CFS for the Circlet Editor anthology on Circlet's blog has two length requirements listed.

We’re looking for stories 5,000-10,000 words in length
and
Our preferred length is approximately 3500 to 7500 words, but we will consider the range from 2000 to 10,000 words.

Which one is more accurate?

Both are equally "accurate" in that word length guidelines are approximations--therefore not accurate at all.

All word count ranges like this mean is that the editor has tried to make a guess at what writers are going to do... and predicting writers is never accurate in the least. Below 2,000, almost certainly too short to have a satisfactory amount of sex and story, above 10,000 almost certainly too long to be paced like a short story and fit with the others.
