All right. I want to stop calling it "the sequel to Tempus." How about Oriens, which is Latin for "rising, the rising sun, east." (Yes, I'm already planning my imagery and motifs...)
So, some questions, which I'd love feedback on.
1. Tempus was in Harry's POV, in third person. We got glimpses into other people' s thoughts, but Harry was in every scene. Harry was the character who a) had to solve the mystery, b) was the agent of change, and c) was the one who changed the most himself, so it was a no-brainer to make him the POV focus. In the sequel (Oriens, she reminded herself), the plot I am playing with keeps coming back to Draco, Draco, Draco. What do you think about keeping the focus on Draco and making it from his POV? Good idea? Bad idea? Pros/cons?
2. I realize I made one major break from the canon. Didn't Dumbledore tell Harry to only tell Hermione and Ron about the Horcruxes and not the rest of the Order? So McGonagall does not know about them. But I have the set-up of why Harry was convinced to come back for 7th year at Hogwarts that McGonagall moved Order HQ there and convinced him that the resources he needs for his mission are best found and mustered there, too. I never actually say this in the actual novel--it was in some of the "summary/intro" text on some of the archive, though. But now it bugs me that I'm not canon-compliant if Harry tells McGonagall about the horcruxes, am I? What do you think, can I get the rest of the order in on the horcrux hunt or is that too AU?
3. This plot is going to have a fair amount of adventure and mystery, just like the original, but I'm trying to figure out how much sex to put in. I was a bit surprised to go back and realize that Tempus, in 20 chapters, has only 8 actual sex scenes (7 between Harry and Draco, 1 Draco/Regulus). That doesn't count the parlor games, Harry wanking, the corporal punishment stuff with Black, all things that get *me* off, but not always my characters. How much sex do you want? About the same? Should I try to insert some sex in every chapter, or is the flow of the mystery/adventure plot more important to you?
I will not give away spoilers.
