Petition about FF.net?

A friend of mine forwarded this petition to Fanfiction.net asking them to stop deleting thousands of fics? Is this really happening right now? Wow.

Have any of you had your stories deleted? (I haven't, because I've never put anything up there...)

I only lost one of mine - for having a phrase like "is the other guy just fucking with him" in the summary, since apparently all the summaries are supposed to be PG. But then again, there's a lot of stuff I haven't posted there at all, since they don't allow RPF and they don't allow NC-17 rated stories, only up to roughly an R rating.

But I've seen complaints from a lot of other people, including a statistic that said something like a third of the total HP stories got deleted (which is a huuuuuge amount). I think that's what lead to the massive rush of AO3 applications in the recent months.

They've apparently decided to be proactive about their "nothing explicit" rule, which has been part of their user terms for years. It's just that, before this, they'd waited for complaints about specific stories.

I gather that they're now doing keyword-based searches and deleting en masse. And there's never been a decent appeals process or objective standards for their ratings levels. I don't think petitions will do any good; FF.net doesn't care if loses a few dozen or a few hundred users. It doesn't need to care if it loses a few thousand.
