Many folks have been posting their Year-End Summaries. Most years I haven't gotten around to it, but this year I figured I'd give it a go!

This year I wrote four fics, all after I got back in August from Diacon Alley. Two were for fests, two were just for the sake of fic. Two H/D, one Snaco, and one Lucius/Draco. That is a shocking lack of Snape, I know, but I am sure there will be more in the future...

THE WAND CHOOSES THE WIZARD -- H/D, NC-17, 11,261 words. Written for the [profile] hd_canon_fest. Four years after the war, Harry Potter has quit the Auror program to hunt down dark wizards on his own, a task for which Draco Malfoy's former wand seems oddly well-suited. A visit to Ollivander's newly re-opened shop to ask why only deepens the mystery Harry is determined to solve. Also archived at: Ravenna's Quill * A03

FIVE OF SWORDS -- Snape/Draco, PG-13, 3900 words. Warning: not smutty! I know I feel I have to warn for that since I so rarely write chaste.... Written for the [community profile] hp_tarot fest. A few years after the Voldemort war is over, Draco has left England and everyone he knew behind. He's living hard on the streets of New Orleans, making money reading Tarot cards to tourists. A mysterious stranger prompts him, though, to look into his own past... and future.

GIVING BACK -- H/D, NC-17, 3313 words. Warnings: bottom!Harry, mentions of abused!draco from the past (7th year)
Summary: Harry still has Draco's wand. A few years after the war's end, he is determined to give it back and make Draco its rightful owner once again.

MALFOY POST-BELLUM -- Lucius/Draco, NC-17, 3161 words. Consensual incest. After the war, Lucius must return to Azkaban. On his last night before going back to prison, he and Draco share some quality time. A gift for [profile] thepinkrabbit who lamented at the post-DiaconAlley pubmeet that there is not enough Lucius/Draco out there. To which I replied "I should write mote of it." So I did. A classic L/D theme set post-war.

I also ran another round of the [community profile] hp_tarot fest, with some fabulous help from the lovely and fabulous [personal profile] leela_cat and [personal profile] angelbabe_cj. (In fact, I still need to get out participant and award banners for that.) And I participated in Secret Snape, which was fabulous fun and I'm so glad I did!

2011 was the first year I went to more than one Harry-Potter-themed convention. Aeternitas was in the spring, and was only two hours drive from my house, so it was the first time I've been able to drive to such an event! It was also the first one I went to that was much more "fan focused" than the others. There were Wizarding Subject classes like Potions (which was actually a class on cocktail making taught by a cosplaying Snape) and Herbology (which was actually on gardening and plants!). It was just fabulous fun, and a great example of what the fandom can do if we set our minds to it.

The other con I went to was NOT driving distance, not by a long shot. I flew to the UK for Diacon Alley in Canterbury, and had a really fabulous time there as well! Also a smallish group (compared to some of the huge HP cons here in the US I've been to, with thousands of attendees) and also very very determined to have the most fannish fun possible. Staying on the university campus was great fun, too.

Four fics does not seem like much compared to how much I used to write back in 2006-2007, but my professional writing life was much less busy then. It's been a really incredible busy year in pro writing:
-I finished writing the Magic University series with the fourth book in the series (The Poet and the Prophecy) and also wrote a few short stories for the Magic U anthology "Spellbinding: Tales from the Magic University".
-The ebook compilations of The Prince's Boy (vols 1 & 2) came out, and the paperback of volume 1. (Vol 2 paperback is finally coming in 2012)
-Ebooks of the first 3 volumes of Daron's Guitar Chronicles came out.
-I had short stories appear in the anthologies Gotta Have It, The Ladies of Trade Town, and Riding the Rocket.

There are probably a few things I'm forgetting, too.

LOOKING FORWARD TO 2012

In 2012, I know I'll be going to one big Harry Potter convention: Ascendio, in July in Orlando at WWoHP, and I'm in charge of organizing fanfic readings there. But I'll also be attending a ton of other cons as a pro writer, including Arisia, Wiscon, Worldcon, World Fantasy, and others. If the "Hogwarts Alumni" party I'm throwing at Arisia goes well, maybe I'll do it at other cons, too! I'm also slated to present a paper on BDSM romances at the Popular Culture Association annual scholarly conference.

I hope to run another round of HP Tarot, but right now it's more important that I get the award banners from the previous round done and distributed!

I want to do Yuletide. I didn't manage it in 2011 but maybe in 2012.

I started a project to archive all my fics on my own server (http://ravenna.ceciliatan.com) and I'm going to try to finish uploading there and at Archive of our Own.

I want to make some more podfics.

That's probably a big enough to-do list for now!
