CON.TXT offers scholarships!
Mar. 7th, 2014 02:00 amI can't be at CON.TXT this year because I've got too many business trips conflicting, alas! But first of all, if you've never been, and you're a slash writer, fan, or fan artist, and can get to Maryland, this is an absolutely wonderful little convention. It's only held every other year, so if you miss 2014 you have to wait all the way until 2016 for it to happen again. (*cries*)
It's multi-fandom, super smart, packed with fellow introverts like me so it's both fun for meeting people AND supportive of those who just need to sit and read for a while. It's only a few hundred people, all deeply committed to slash, has the most incredible vid show, is bi and queer friendly (understatement...), and being there very nearly sucked me into a bunch more fandoms. (The "fandom speed dating" event was amazing and hilarious.) There's always some Harry Potter deconstruction because some of the organizers & volunteers of the con are HP folks you may recognize from LJ/DW/IJ (like
bethbethbeth,
dementordelta), but also so much Avengers, Sherlock, Supernatural, Merlin, Dr. Who, Death Note, etc you name it!
Anyway. The post about how to apply for a scholarship if you've never been to CON.TXT is here: http://con-txt.dreamwidth.org/21303.html
Go, and then post all about the con so I can live vicariously through you, OK?
