Fic Rec from H/D Hols, you've probably all seen it before...

Okay, so I am a few YEARS behind reading H/D Holidays at this point. Not kidding, you guys gave me recs for 2008, I think, and I still haven't gotten to them. But last night after I posted my podifc fest stories, I saw melusinahp had posted one of hers as well. And I clicked on it out of curiosity.

I was reading it until 5:21 in the morning, it was that good. I hadn't intended to stay up all night reading fic -- I'd been about to go to sleep when I clicked. Instead I had to read the novella straight through. And now I'm recc'ing it to you on the off chance you haven't read it yet.

As H/D goes, this is delicious. Draco is the ringmaster of a traveling circus/freakshow and someone is attacking his employees. Harry is an Auror investigating the case -- and Dennis Creevy is his partner. The story is by turns funny and affecting. It features a Harry who is highly oblivious to his homosexual desires, a very grown-up Draco, much wonderful canon geekery and... just go read it:

I just posted two stories of my own for this fest! Thank goodness I did two with a holiday theme, one H/D and one Snarry! That first Christmas in 2006 I was signing up for the holiday fests and I think I didn't quite realize they didn't have to have a holiday theme in the stories... or maybe I was just in the mood! Harry is also challenged trying to figure out what Slytherins mean half the time, which leads to a comedy of miscommunication.
