Awards Time

The Sorting Hat awards, which are grouped by theme, are now taking nominations. "Tempus" has already been nominated in the "time travel" category but is up against some stiff competition, in particular a great story called Mobius by Mandy. No spoilers, just go read it. (FYI, it's Snarry.) I nominated twistedm's fabulous H/D "Breaking Him" in the slavery category, and if she accepts the nomination that will be a tough category as well. So much good fic out there--"Breaking Him" must go head to head with jordangrant's Cambiare Podentes, which is one of my favorite fics of all time. (Also Snarry.)

Whimsic Alley book

So, Whimsic Alley (the CA retail store that sells all kinds of HP stuff, including robes, wands, etc...) is putting together an original book of spells, to be published by Hampton Roads Publishing in 2007. Anyone can submit a spell at their online form. If they use your spell in the book, you'll get a copy of the book and apparently a wand from the Phoenix Wands Lumos Collection. I went ahead and submitted Sagitto Flammare (the flame-throwing spell). Under the supposition that the book will be rated G, though, I think the vast majority of the spells I have invented for my fic can't be submitted.
